According to eyewitnesses, the body was discovered on Monday, October 16 in the Doe Palace Community of Kakata.Local media reports say the decomposed body, believed to be missing some key body parts, is beyond facial recognition. The body is said to be that of a male wearing blue denim jeans. The body was discovered and reported by an unknown female, who was out searching for ‘country medicine’ in an unfinished building in Doe Palace Community.Surprisingly, Doe Palace residents interviewed for this story said they did not smell any foul odor from the direction of the abandoned building where the body was discovered.Going back into history, from way back before it was officially founded, Kakata has been known for ritualistic killings, some residents disclosed. It may be recalled that a body was recently discovered in the Sugar Hill Community in Kakata.  The two reported deaths have caused fear in hearts of Kakata residents. Parents are so afraid that some are unwilling to even send their children to school for fear they could meet such a fate.“We are very worried that government officials have not been able to tell us anything as to who is behind these killings. We are scared of these killings,” said a Doe Palace community resident who refused to be named.Recognized as a city in the county of Margibi on December 15, 1985, Kakata, home to Booker Washington Institute (BWI), Liberia’s premier vocational high school and technical institution, and Kakata Rural Teacher Training Institute (KRTTI), has a population of 34, 000 according to the 2008 census. The issue of unresolved murders remains a major problem in Liberia. During the just ended elections,  several corpses were found in Montserrado, Bong and Grand Kru counties, with some pointing to ritualistic killings as the cause of these deaths. Recently, the body of a young girl from the 72nd Barracks Community, who was out selling sweets, was discovered in a suitcase in the Red Light poultry market in the heart of Paynesville City.Meanwhile, the Kakata detachment of the Liberia National Police (LNP) is said to be investigating the case of the decomposed body discovered yesterday in the Doe Palace Community. The LNP said it cannot comment on the matter at present.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
